For this stunning estate, Macknally Land Design collaborated with the architect on the siting of the house and the creation of the site plan. Nestled on 4 acres of family property atop Shades Mountain, the clients wished to create the feeling of an old French country home. The estate walls complement the stone rubble walls of the house and provide connection from the entrance, parking court, house and pool house. Custom designed wood gates provide entry to the estate and rear gardens.
The gardens of the estate include wildflower meadows, and herb knot garden, rose garden dining terrace, woodland meditation garden and pool terrace. All of which are embraced by a mature hardwood / pine forest. The house itself is planted with climbing fig and espaliered apple to soften the stone walls. A pair of antique cane kettles were converted to water feature accents for the front entry and rear dining terrace. The estate is a true family home, as well as a serene escape.
